The Library subscribes to online resources that contain articles and reseach materials that would not otherwise be available to local Internet users. All databases may be accessed inside the Library; most may be accessed from home using your library card and PIN. Please see notes for each database.

Comprehensive database of biographical information on more than 380,000 people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It combines more than 450,000 biographies from respected Gale Group sources such as Contemporary Authors, Encyclopedia of World Biography, and Newsmakers, with full-text articles from nearly 300 periodicals.

EBSCO's comprehensive collection of more than 461,000 full-text biographies, including the complete full-text run of Biography Today and Biography, as well as thousands of narrative biographies that are not available in other databases.

An online reference database of general interest, business & health magazines and newspapers. Includes both full text and indexing as well as full text reference books.

Online Spanish language World Book Encyclopedia, plus the English version and an online dictionary.

Gale's LRG contains critical, biographical and contextual materials on literature, as well as primary sources and audio segments such as NPR reviews. Includes Twayne's Authors Series, Scribner Writers Series and access to LitFinder, a collection of primary content including full-text poems, poem citations and excerpts, full-text short stories and novels, essays, speeches, and plays.

The ProQuest database of over 500 National and International newspapers including the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal.

Excellent resource for staying current on controversial issues. Also good for research reports or preparing for a debate.

Points of View Reference Center (Requires MARINet library card & PIN.)
Full-text database designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. The database provides more than 280 topics, each with an overview, point, counterpoint, and Critical Thinking Guide.

Online access to all articles from the print version plus additional articles updated monthly, an online dictionary, and a Spanish language encyclopedia, the Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos.
