The Library subscribes to databases that contain articles and reseach materials that would not otherwise be available to local Internet users. All
databases may be accessed inside the Library; most may be accessed from home using your library card and PIN. Please see notes for each database.

Designed for high-school students and lay adults, this collection of entries covers major areas of science including astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, and medicine. Search by keyword.

Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia

Online version of the 17-volume encyclopedia of the animal world. Access is via the Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Magill’s Medical Guide (In-Library use only)
Searchable access to Magill's Medical Guide. The Guide covers diseases, disorders, treatments, procedures, specialties, anatomy, biology, and issues in an A-Z format, with sidebars addressing recent developments in medicine and concise information boxes for all diseases and disorders.

Science Resource Center (In-Library use only)
Science Resource Center (Access from home or work; Belvedere & Tiburon residents only)
A one-stop resource for all science-related research needs. SRC's focus is on topics and concepts taught in school classrooms.

World Book Encyclopedia Online Reference Center (Remote access requires MARINet library card & PIN.)
Online access to all articles from the print version plus additional articles updated monthly, an online dictionary, and a Spanish language encyclopedia, the Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos.

Healthfinder
Comprehensive guide to reliable health information sponsored by U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services & the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

InteliHealth
Consumer health information from the Harvard Medical School.

MEDLINE plus
Possibly the best medical resource on the web. Full medical encyclopedia, multimedia tutorials, drug info and much more. Sponsored by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.

National Science Digital Library
Comprehensive online source for science, technology, engineering and mathematics education funded by the National Science Foundation.

Science.gov
Gateway to information produced by U.S. government science agencies. Includes selected Web sites and searchable databases of technical reports, conference proceedings, journal articles, and other material.
