Databases
The Library subscribes to databases that contain articles and reseach materials that would not otherwise be available to local Internet users. All
databases may be accessed inside the Library; most may be accessed from home using your library card and PIN. Please see notes for each database.

World Book Encyclopedia Online Reference Center (Remote access requires MARINet library card & PIN.)
Online access to all articles from the print version plus additional articles updated monthly, an online dictionary, and a Spanish language encyclopedia, the Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos.

Gale Virtual Reference Library (Remote access requires MARINet library card & PIN.)
Searchable access to Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia, West's Encyclopedia of American Law, Dictionary of American History, Gale Encyclopedia of Science, and Arts and Humanities Through the Eras.

Search for acronyms, e.g. OPEC or NATO, and their meanings.

Searchable online dictionary, plus other free tools.

Free online encyclopedia.

Search general, entertainment, and sports almanacs, atlases, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and more.
Great source for facts.

Merriam-Webster Online
Search the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary or the Online Thesaurus.

Wikipedia
Collaborative online encyclopedia with over 1,400,000 articles in English.
